Sometimes you just need a cheat day and Sunday was one of those days! After a hectic weekend, and going to bed hungry on Saturday, I was just craving unhealthy foods! I didn't go overboard, but I indulged in things I wouldn't normally it. Like the pizza sub at Subway for lunch and leftover Chinese food at Brian's parent's house for dinner. But I am ready to be back on track today.
This weekend was crazy busy but also quite fun! Saturday we got up early and started on some laundry as well as cleaning the apartment. Took us an hour and a half or so. At 12:30pm we left for Orleans and picked up Brian's sister, who did our engagement photos. We did the photos outside in front of a waterfall. We haven't really gotten to see the photos, but I think we'll end up with some pretty good ones! We went back to his parent's place after for a couple of hours to warm up and catch up. We left to come home around 3:45pm. After supper I tried out a new muffin recipe - honey yogurt muffins. They're delicious! That evening our friends Keisha and Justin came over for a board game night. We played Pictionary, Scene It on Xbox 360 and Sequence. It was such a blast! Sunday we went to see the movie The Tourist, which was a really fun movie, and then went to Brian's parent's place for dinner where we ate leftover Chinese food and played a really fun board game called Imagineiff. After winding down to an episode of Dexter when we got home, I was ready for bed!
And now I'm waiting to leave for work and am already counting down until Friday.... but here are the things I look forward to during the week:
1) Meeting Brian today after my doctor's appointment for a food court (Subway) dinner before I head home and he heads to jiu jitsu.
2) Lazing around Tuesday night and watching The Biggest Loser.
3) Meeting a friend I haven't seen in a couple of years for lunch on Wednesday.
4) Getting our engagement photos from Brian's sister on Thursday.
5) Getting the latest US Weekly or People magazine on Friday and indulging in some celebrity gossip.
Something to look forward to each weekday! :)

Weeeeeeeeeeeekend!
The weather is all stormy and cold. Honestly when I got home from work all I wanted to do was put my Pajamas on, grab a blanket and watch a movie on the couch. But I had promised myself I was going to give the Jillian Michael's 6 week six pack a try. I came home starving, which would normally make me want to skip a workout... instead I had a banana to tide me over through the workout, and reminded myself that after my intense workout I get to have delicious (yet healthy) pizza for dinner and then get to go have my nails done :) So I let Jillian Michaels torture me and now I'm feeling pretty good.
Meals for Friday:

Snack - Jello sugar free pudding, Apple, 2 cups of water (140)

Little Black Dress.
I was out shopping last night and found an adorable little black dress from Dynamite on clearance for $20. What a delightful find! I don't have a special occasion for it yet, but when the next event comes up, I will have a new dress to wear!
Work today was so hectic and exhausting. We did manage to go out to lunch for a coworker's birthday, which was nice. I ended up having a salmon garden salad. I'm not a huge fish fan but it was one of the only healthy items on the menu. And I knew I'd be having an enjoyable dinner tonight.
Alas, I am home from work and ready to park it on the couch. Just need to get some dinner cooked and then it's movie/TV time.

LOW Energy.
I'm feeling very low energy today. I think I got a fairly good sleep last night, but perhaps it's just the weather that is draining me. It's also the first week back at work since the Christmas holidays, so I'm sure that has a bit to do with it.
Went grocery shopping today and got a ton of healthy foods:
Apples
Bananas
Natural selections turkey lunch meat
12-grain bagels
Boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Lean ground beef
100 calorie packs of almonds and trail mix
Low sodium V8 juice
Sugar free pudding
Plain yogurt
Lean cuisines
Frozen pizza
The kitchen cupboards are stocked and I'm feeling healthy. Why can't I have a little energy as well?
I also bought Jillian Michael's 6 week six-pack workout DVD and will be trying that out this weekend. I'll let you know how that goes.
Tonight I'm stopping off at the mall and then watching Brian's jiu jitsu class.
Meals for Wednesday:
Breakfast - Blue menu dark chocolate bran muffin, 1 cup of skim milk (260)
Snack - Silhouette blueberry, blackberry & muesli yogurt, Apple, 2 cups of water (160)
Lunch - 2 slices of bread, 1/2 can of tuna, 1 tbsp. light mayo, Del monte fruit twist, 2 cups of water (370)
Snack - Chocolate caramel granola bar, 1 bottle of V8 juice (210)
Dinner - 1 small burrito with yellow, red and orange peppers, 2 cups of water, Diet coke (325)

Survived My First Day Back.
I went into work with a positive attitude today.... I was going to make a to-do list and I was going to get that list done. And I did. I felt really productive after a slow few weeks at work. The hours flew by fairly quickly and I am happy to report only three more workdays until it's the weekend.
Last night was good. Brian had his first night back at jiu jitsu and then when he got back home, we watched the new episode of How I Met Your Mother before calling it a night. I'm so glad all my shows are on again because having good shows on while hibernating is really important :) Is it almost summer yet?
I'm going to a wedding show on Jan. 15th, which I'm pretty excited about! I've invited all my bridesmaids to come with and even though there's not much planning involved in a destination wedding, I still think it'll be fun to look around!
Currently watching Iron Man 2 and then will tune into the premiere of The Biggest Loser. I am enjoying a much deserved relaxing evening.
Meals for Tuesday:
Breakfast - Blue menu dark chocolate bran muffin, 1 cup of skim milk (260)
Snack - Silhouette blueberry, blackberry & muesli yogurt, Apple, 2 cups of water (160)
Lunch - 1 serving of leftover Creamy chicken stew (with carrots), Del monte fruit twist, 2 cups of water (420)
Snack - Chocolate caramel granola bar (140)
Dinner - Blue menu portion control burger with 1 slice each of red, yellow and orange pepper on top, bun, 1 tbsp. ketchup, 1 tsp. mustard, 1 garlic & dill pickle, Diet coke (325)
Snack - Mini bag of ketchup chips, 2 Lindor chocolates, 4 cups of water (310)
Total - 1615 calories, 26 grams of fiber, 3 fruits, 2 veggies, 9 cups of water.
Again, pretty on par with all the fiber, fruits, veggies, water, etc, that my body needs! Go me!

Back To Work Tomorrow....
The holidays flew by WAY too fast. There was just so many people to see, so many events to go to... Don't get me wrong, it was the BEST Christmas ever. I am just looking forward to hibernating a bit this winter. I love staying in and making sure the apartment is clean, trying out new recipes, staying in my pj's ALL DAY and watching movies. I'm a creature of routine.... That being said, I'm a bit anxious for work. I'm still not confident in the job and I cause myself unnecessary stress by thinking about the worst possible outcome of every situation. So today I'm just trying to take deep breaths, organize in my head how I plan to tackle what's on the go for this week, and just take it one day at a time. And in four more days, it'll be the weekend again! And if it all gets to be too much, there's nothing wrong with taking a personal day every once and a while.
On my day off today I managed to be fairly productive. I folded the laundry, took out the recycling, did the dishes twice and tried out a new recipe for dinner. I also read up on older blogs... it got me motivated. I realized there was a time where I was working out on average three times a week... I got to reminisce about my birthday, moving into our apartment, summer vacation.... I also read my meal plans from back then and gave myself some ideas. It was a good exercise.
I am so excited for The Biggest Loser to start up again tomorrow. There's going to be four trainers, rather than just Bob and Jillian. That should be interesting. And it's Jillian's last season. To be honest, I'm just hoping this season is better than the one that just ended. I wasn't impressed with that one. A new show that my Mom told me about called, "Village on a Diet" starts tonight. We'll pvr that one to see if it's any good. It's about exactly what it's called, a village in B.C. that goes on a diet. I'm looking forward to it!
Workout goals for this week:
Friday & Sunday. Just two days for this week to get back into the swing of things. Hoping to get up to between 3 & 5 days per week as I progress.
Things to look forward to this week (so that I don't just focus on work stresses):
- The Biggest Loser premiering tomorrow.
- Getting to watch Brian's jiu jitsu class on Wednesday and showing off my ring to everyone there.
- Grocery shopping on Wednesday; first trip of the New Year. Lots of healthy snacks on the list to stock the cupboards with!
- Going to see the movie, "The Tourist" with Brian at some point on the weekend.
- Couple's game night with our friends Keisha and Justin on Saturday night. Pictionary here we come!
- Trying out some new recipes - 2 step honey dijon chicken, peanut butter muffins and yogurt honey muffins (with raisins). Super excited to see how they turn out!
Meals for Monday:
Breakfast - Blue menu dark chocolate bran muffin, 1 cup of skim milk (260)
Snack - 1 cup of red cherries, Blueberry, blackberry & muesli yogurt, 2 cups of water (155)
Lunch - Smokin' stampede quesadilla, Royal gala apple, sliced. Diet coke. (370)
Snack - 100 calorie bag of popcorn, Del monte fruit twist, 4 cups of water (160)
Dinner - 1 serving of Quick and Creamy Chicken Stew: http://www.kraftcanada.com/en/recipes/quick-creamy-chicken-stew-95389.aspx, 1 cup of water (360)
Snack - Mini bag of plain lays chips, 2 ferrera roche chocolates, 1 After Eight mint, 3 cups of water (360)
Total - 1665 calories, 26 grams of fiber, 3 fruits, 2 veggies, 11 cups of water.
Everyday is getting healthier and healthier! I got in enough calories, fiber, fruits & veggies and water for today! :)

Happy New Year!
Last year was all about losing weight... this year I'd like to focus on exercise... I can't seem to make it a habit! I'm quite sporadic with it unfortunately. And I'm very good at counting my calories to ensure weightloss or weight maintainance, however; I don't always pick the BEST choices for my body. I am constantly trying to save enough calories for my treats at the end of the night, which I know I'll still do, but I'd like to also make sure I've got my fill of fruits and veggies, whole grains, etc. More fresh foods, less frozen meals.
I want to do this for my health, but I must admit I have a vain reason for it as well: I'm engaged! And we'd like to do a destination wedding down South (preferrably Jamaica) in May 2012. That's one year and four months away. And I'd like to rock a sexy bathing suit, whether it's a one piece or two!
What else are my goals for 2011? In addition to planning the wedding.... I'd like to find a permanent full-time job. I've been working hard at this the past couple of years, but I'd like to step it up a few more notches... start making contacts, sending out e-mails, etc. And become even better at saving money. I'm pretty strict with my budget and saving, but I still do spend more frivilously that I could. THIS will be the year of finding free or extremely inexpensive things to do in my spare time. With the stable job and saved money, Brian and I would like to buy a house. Big plans for us over the next little while!
Christmas was so magical. I'm such a big fan. All the lights, the hustle and bustle. Finding the perfect gifts for friends and family. Spending time with friends and family. The delicious food. And this year was all the more special with that wonderful ring wrapped and waiting under the tree for me. Brian knows what a cheeseball I am, what Christmas excitement and anticipation means to me. So he had the ring wrapped many times - in the ring box, in a small box wrapped, in a medium box wrapped, in a larger box wrapped.... took me a while to open it. And it was a great surprise! We've known for a while that we both wanted to spend the rest of our lives with one another - he's my other half! But making it official feels perfect to me - I'm Brian's fiance, soon to be his wife. I couldn't be happier.
I've been basking in the parties, the celebrations for both the holidays and our engagement. I promised myself this year that I'd let myself truly enjoy all the foods I wanted to. Now it's time to burn all that excess food off! And like most everyone, that healthy lifestyle started up again on Jan. 1st.
Meals for Jan. 1st -
Lunch - 1/3 of a Dellissio flatbread mushroom medley pizza, Sugar free jello mousse, Banana, 1 cup of red cherries, 4 cups of water. (565)

Dinner - 2 mini chicken pot pies, 1 garlic & dill pickle, 2 cups of water (380)
Snack - Mini bag of ketchup chips, 2 Lindor chocolates, 2 cups of water (310)
Total - 1495 calories, 3 fruits, 2 veggies, 8 cups of water, 15 grams of fiber
It was January 1st so everything was a bit jumbled from sleeping in late and whatnot. Need to work on adding in more fiber and eating at least 1500 calories.
Meals for Jan. 2nd -
Breakfast - 3/4 cup of froot loops cereal, 1 cup of skim milk (200)
Lunch - Smokin' Stampede quesadilla (with corn in it), Banana, Silhouette Satisfaction blueberry, blackberry & muesli yogurt, Diet coke, 4 cups of water (480)
Snack - 100 calorie bag of popcorn , Apple, 2 cups of water (180)
Dinner - 3 oz. of cooked chicken, chopped green, red, yellow & orange peppers, chopped red onion, cooked in 1/2 tsp. of canola oil. 1 cup of minute rice, Sweet and sour sauce. 2 cups of water (525)
Snack - Mini bag of plain chips , 2 Lindor chocolates, 2 cups of water (320)

Much better today. Still need to get my fiber up to 25 grams minimum though.
